Seven games without a win is a run Manchester United need to end. After defeats in Madrid and Como, Michael Carrick's side return to Old Trafford against a Bournemouth team who have spent the past fortnight remembering how good winning feels.

United host Bournemouth on Sunday 25 October, with kick-off at 14:00 GMT. The clocks have gone back, but the home supporters will be hoping their team's afternoon brings a change of direction too.

Draws are no longer much consolation

United's last three Premier League outings have all finished 1–1: against Fulham, Tottenham and Leeds. Those points have kept something coming in, but their only league victory remains August's 5–2 win over Ipswich.

The European results have been harsher. A 2–0 defeat at Atlético Madrid was followed by a 4–1 loss at Como on Wednesday. Across all competitions, United have not won since beating Sabah on 10 September.

There is no need to dress that up. United have seven points from seven league games and have conceded in every one. A home win would not wipe away those problems, but another afternoon of dropped points would leave the same questions waiting for Carrick.

Bournemouth arrive with momentum

Bournemouth's recent run offers a sharp contrast: three straight wins, eight goals scored and none conceded. They beat Sturm Graz 3–0, Sunderland 2–0 and Milan 3–0, with Thursday's European victory the latest lift.

All three were at home, however. Taking that improvement on the road is the next challenge. Bournemouth have yet to win away in the league this season, and their most recent league trip ended in a 5–1 defeat at Chelsea.

The Sunderland result was their first Premier League win of the campaign. They sit just a point behind United, so this is also a chance to turn a good week into a change in their league fortunes.

A fixture that has brought goals

Last season's meetings ended 4–4 at Old Trafford and 2–2 at Bournemouth. United's last victory in the fixture came in May 2023, when Casemiro scored the winner.

For United, the immediate task is simpler than any grand statement about their season: finish an afternoon with three points. Bournemouth have reason to believe they can make that wait last longer, but must show their recent home form can survive a different setting.
