Dimitris Kourbelis delivered a landmark night for Greece, scoring the winner in Augsburg as they beat Germany for the first time and made it two victories from two in League A.
Kourbelis makes history
Germany had spent much of the evening pushing for a breakthrough, but Greece were still level when their moment arrived in the 74th minute. Kourbelis struck from outside the area, the ball took a deflection and Alexander Nübel was beaten.
That single goal ended ten previous meetings without a Greek victory. It also rewarded a side who stayed in the contest through Germany's strongest spell and then took their chance when it came.
Tzolakis keeps Germany out
Konstantinos Tzolakis made a fine save from Joshua Kimmich's free-kick early in the second half. Felix Nmecha then failed to make the most of another Germany opening as the pressure continued.
Greece carried a threat of their own. Fotis Ioannidis missed a clear chance shortly before Kourbelis scored, a warning Germany did not heed. Once ahead, the visitors held firm through the closing stages to complete a famous win.
Perfect start puts Greece top
Greece have six points from their opening two matches, following the 2-1 win in Serbia with an even bigger result in Augsburg. They lead League A Group 2, two points ahead of the Netherlands.
Germany remain on one point after Cody Gakpo's late equaliser denied them in Amsterdam and Greece inflicted defeat in Jürgen Klopp's first home match. His opening two games as national-team coach have brought a draw and a loss.
